discoveries, excursions & experiences in southern morocco

At Dar al Hossoun, you can enjoy the tranquility of the place whilst walking around the gardens, painting, taking pictures, swimming or enjoying some traditional Moroccan cuisine at our cookery classes, or simply relaxing at the Spa or by the pool.

For those who wish to have a more active time, there are plenty to choose from: hikes, taxis, or carriage rides, visits to the souks and tannery nearby, discovery of the “lost” valley of the High or Anti-Atlas region, Berber villages and tours of private homes and gardens.

Having travelled across Morocco for over 20 years and settled in Taroudant since 2009, we live and work in southern Morocco and would be happy to share with you our experiences, our outlook and stories during some of the many walks and trips we offer on a one-to-one basis.
Taroudant is the perfect place to discover the Souss area: Taroudant, the surrounding valleys and mountains, Agadir and the Atlantic coast…

1 100 Dhs per person (minimum of 2 people).

Includes guide, transportation, and lunch with a local family (5 to 6 hours approx.).

For culture and heritage enthusiasts, embark on a journey to discover Morocco’s ancestral treasures.

Originally, each Amazigh (Berber) village had its own Agadir (or Igherm, plural Igoudar), a communal fortress where the population safeguarded their harvests, seeds, jewelry, and other valuables. These structures also housed communal spaces, including a small mosque, underground water cisterns, and sometimes even a prison, designed to withstand a siege.

Just 45 minutes to 1 hour from Dar al Hossoun, in the breathtaking landscapes of the Souss plains and the Anti-Atlas mountains, you will have the opportunity to visit the Agadir of Inoumar, a site over 700 years old. The Amin, the trusted guardian appointed by the community, will personally open the doors for you.

Nearby, you will explore another historically rich site: the Kasbah of Hamou Olyazid, leader of the Inoumar tribe in the 14th century. This former tribal decision-making center will immerse you in Amazigh culture through its architecture, traditions, and stories of everyday life from centuries past.

To conclude this cultural experience, you will enjoy a traditional lunch with a local family in a village near the Kasbah (or as a picnic, depending on your preference).
